Canadian Educational Standards Institute (CESI)

The Canadian Educational Standards Institute (CESI) was founded to develop and promote high educational standards for elementary and secondary schools in Canada while recognizing the independence and integrity of each, individual, accredited Institute school.

The Canadian Network of Outdoor Educators in Independent Schools (C@NOEIS) serves as a forum for the professional development of the managers of outdoor education programs in independent schools in Canada.  For more information on this group's mandate, mission statement, resources and PD opportunities, please visit their website.

Federation of Independent Schools in Canada (FISC)

The Federation of Independent Schools in Canada, founded in 1980, represents regional and national independent school associations across Canada.  These associations collectively represent the parents of more than 280,000 students enrolled in nearly 1,700 independent schools.

Regional Associations

Association of Independent Schools and Colleges in Alberta

Founded in 1958, AISCA seeks to represent all independent schools in the province of Alberta and to promote the right of parents to determine the education of their children.

Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario (CIS)

The Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario (CIS),founded in 1984, provides a collegial forum to promote excellence in education among its 45 member schools and their 25,000 students. CIS member schools are committed to a model of schooling that educates the "whole person".  They offer programs that challenge students to reach their individual potential on the path leading to post-secondary education.

The Federation of Independent School Associations,British Columbia (FISA)

FISA, established in 1966, is an umbrella organization for independent school groups in British Columbia.

Manitoba Federation of Independent Schools

The Manitoba Federation of Independent Schools Inc. was founded and incorporated on December 11, 1974, and is an umbrella organization for the independent schools in the Province of Manitoba. The MFIS represents approximately 13,000 students in 50 schools.

The Quebec Association of Independent Schools - QAIS

Founded in 1964, QAIS is an association of member schools from across the province of Quebec, representing day and boarding schools, and boys', girls' and co-ed schools.  

Ontario Federation of Independent Schools

OFIS represents all types of independent schools including Religious, Alternative Methods, Special Needs, Community-based, and Home-Schooling

International Associations

National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS)

The National Association of Independent Schools is a membership organization and the national voice of independent education in the United States. It represents nearly 1,200 U.S. independent schools, including day, boarding, and day/boarding schools; elementary and secondary schools; boys', girls', and coeducational schools. NAIS offers a variety of products and services to member schools and associations.

 

International Boys' Schools Coalition

The International Boys' Schools Coalition is dedicated to the education and development of boys,  the professional growth of those who work with them, and the advocacy and the advancement of institutions - primarily schools for boys - that serve them.

 

 

Independent Schools (United Kingdom)

A guide, directory and resource on all aspects of independent schools and independent education in the United Kingdom.

The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS)

The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) is the only US-based, non-profit educational organization exclusively serving boarding schools and students. TABS was formed as a committee in 1976 to address enrollment issues pertaining to boarding schools. In 2000, TABS became an independent, non-profit organization serving nearly 300 schools.

Round Square

It is a worldwide association of schools sharing unique and ambitious goals.

Its origins come from the philosophy of Kurt Hahn who taught that schools should have a greater purpose - beyond preparing students for college and university. He believed in educating young people for life in the fullest sense.
